Defibrillators
Cropredy Village has three (AED) defibrillators located at the Cropredy Surgery, at the Sports and Social Club and at the Village Hall. See below for more details.
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable life saving device that can give a casualty’s heart an electric shock, when it has stopped beating normally in a sudden cardiac arrest. A defibrillator works by checking the casualty’s heart rhythm once the defibrillator pads are placed on their chest and giving them a shock if needed. By using a defibrillator before an ambulance arrives, you can significantly increase someone’s chance of survival.
Defibrillator Locations: Cropredy Surgery, Claydon Road, OX17 1FB (outside main door); Cropredy Sports and Social Club OX17 1PG (near the door of the old pavilion) and Cropredy Village Hall, Chapel Lane, OX17 1PA.
If a life-threatening medical emergency arises (such as a heart attack, stroke or serious accident), the first action is always to call 999 and request an ambulance service. If use of an AED is appropriate, the call handler will direct the caller to the nearest AED location and provide the code to open the cabinet. Support will be given over the telephone until an ambulance arrives. For users of the Village Hall, an emergency landline is available in the bar as the mobile signal can be unreliable inside the hall.
The AED installed at the Village Hall in the Spring of 2025 was purchased using the proceeds from the 2024 Famous Breakfasts fundraising. The Village hall Committee felt that it was important to have an AED available to users of the Village Hall but also to residents of Cropredy who live near the hall. The Committee would like to thank all the volunteers who gave their time to help raise funds to support the Village Hall.
