CROPREDY PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of a meeting of Cropredy Parish Council held in the Methodist Chapel on Monday 9th June 2025 at 7pm
Present: Councillors Tania Johnson, Des Knight, Jacqui Smith and Sheila Jones, District Cllr Phil Chapman, County Councillor Chris Brant and David Best (Clerk). Five members of the public attended the meeting.
- APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE:
- ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN & VICE CHAIRMAN: Councillor Tania Johnson was re-elected as chairman and Cllr Des Knight was re-elected as vice-chairman. It was agreed that Tania with support of Des would lead the Village Maintenance and Improvement, Des would lead the Transport, Traffic & Street Lighting, Sheila would lead the Village Emergency Plan, Crime Prevention & the Environment, Tania would lead Internet & Social Media until another councillor can be recruited and Tania will also lead Planning until another councillor can be recruited.
- CO-OPTION OF NEW COUNCILLORS: Three members of the public that attended the meeting were co-opted onto the council.
- DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST: None.
- MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING – The minutes of the meeting of 12th May were approved as a correctrecord and signed by the Chairman.
- MATTERS ARISING: None
- VILLAGE MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT
Tree Survey – Cllr Tania Johnson is monitoring the work recommended in the survey. There are items for June which Tania will discuss with Mr Tim Batchelor.
Upper Churchyard Mowing – Additional volunteers have been added to the rota and there are now 3 mowers with the addition of a new one.
Canals and Rivers Trust – The next Towpath Taskforce is scheduled to take place on 25th June but was brought forward to 18th June due to holiday commitments. Potholes have been filled along the towpath.
Damaged bollard on The Plantation – A bollard has been knocked down and Mr Simon Bull will be asked to replace it with one of the two spares.
Playground maintenance – Infinity Playgrounds has replaced all the shackles on the swings and repaired the roundabout. A repainting quote will be required in four years to maintain the equipment. It will be easier to paint in future as long as it is not left so long. The new sign on the gate will be fixed by Mr Rob Johnson.
Lock Garden – The new sign for the lock garden which Cherwell District Council is funding has been delivered but cannot be fitted until permission has been obtained from the Canals and Rivers Trust.
New dog bins along School Lane – Dog walkers have advised that they are very grateful for these.
Dog Bin at Broadmore Lock – This is due any day now and will be fitted immediately. - TRANSPORT, TRAFFIC & STREET LIGTING
Community Speedwatch – This is continuing. A couple of complaints have been received by the Police. The detail of the complaints is known but the Police will provide details shortly. The speeding along Williamscot Rd has not improved.
Potholes – Some of the deep potholes along Oxhey Hill have not been filled but County Councillor Chris Brant will raise this with OCC Highways.
Highways Maintenance – Recent road resurfacing has been carried out in local border areas of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire and North Oxfordshire is being left behind. County Councillor Chris Brant will review this with OCC Highways. - VILLAGE EMERGENCY PLAN, CRIME PREVENTION & ENVIRONMENT
Emergency Plan – This is up to date and a representative from OCC, Mr Paul Mann, will be reviewing this.
10. PARISH COUNCIL USE OF INTERNET & SOCIAL MEDIA
Help for the website – Mr Clive Dunn and Mr Bob Garland are updating the website and Mr Bob Garland is giving training to councillors on how to upload documents.
- PLANNING, CLIMATE CHANGE, FINANCE & LEGAL
New Planning Applications:
25/00708/F – The Seed House, School Lane – remove condition 8 from 12/00611/F – PC has no objection. 25/00729/F – The Old Manor – New storm porch and gates – PC has no objection.
New Planning Decisions:
25/00729/F – The Seed House, School Lane – Remove condition 8 from 12/00611/F – CDC permitted 8/05 2025. - COUNTY COUNCIL AND DISTRICT COUNCIL REPORT:
Claydon Road Development – It is believed than the S106 agreement for a new GP surgery as part of the Claydon Road development has been agreed and is just awaiting signature by all parties. It is believed that the NHS has advised the GP surgery that it will not renew the lease on the existing premises.
Gulley Cleaning – OCC Highways have started a gully cleaning programme an the gulleys will be cleaned every year instead of every 4 years.
Parish Cluster Group – It was agreed that the PC will join the parish cluster with The Bourtons, Hanwell, Mollington and Drayton to work together - SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
The telegraph poles retraining along the edge of the car park have been reinforced. It was agreed to proceed with the installation of a ramp at the entrance to the new cricket pitch to divert surface water and reduce flooding of the tennis courts. - PARISH MATTERS: None discussed.

- ANY OTHER BUSINESS NOT OF A CONFIDENTIAL NATURE:
Flowers overhanging the pavement along Red Lion Street – A parishioner had complained about this, and it was agreed to investigate and contact the owners if this is considered to be an issue. - ANY MATTERS RAISED BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC: None

There being no further matters the Chair closed the public meeting at 8.36pm
